Brentford boss Smith signs new deal

Brentford boss Dean Smith and his assistant Richard O’Kelly have extended their contracts with the club.

The pair’s new deals keep them at Griffin Park until the end of the 2018-19 season.

Smith and O’Kelly came to the Bees in November 2015, having previously worked together at Walsall for three-and-a-half-years.

They succeeded Lee Carsley, who in turn had been interim boss following the departure of Marinus Dijkhuizen.

Of his 61 matches in charge of the Bees, Smith has won 23, drawn 11 and lost 27 – a win-rate of 37.7%.

Brentford finished the 2015-16 season in ninth place in the Championship, ending the campaign with seven wins in nine games and beating neighbours Fulham 3-0 in their final home match.

They currently sit 13th and have recently beaten Aston Villa 3-0 and shared a 3-3 draw with promotion favourites Brighton.
