Brentford boss not expecting more signings

Dean Smith does not expect to add more signings this summer if he can keep his current Brentford squad together.

The long-term futures of Jota, Harlee Dean, Lasse Vibe and Andreas Bjelland are uncertain as they enter the last year of their contracts.

The Bees head coach said: “I can only talk about other players leaving if people put bids in, and there’s been no bids for our players.

“I think that’s us done for the moment. We’re very happy with the squad we’ve got. At this moment in time I don’t think we need to strengthen the squad anymore.

“We feel we’ve done really good business. We’re in a good position. We’ve got every position covered twice, which is really good, and I think we’ve brought quality in as well.

“I’m looking forward to 5 August. It will be difficult to pick the first team with the number of quality players we’ve got.”

Brentford host Southampton in their next pre-season friendly and hope to give debuts to three of their summer signings.

“We are waiting for international clearance for Kamo Mokotjo, Neal Maupay and the registration of Ollie Watkins,” Smith said.
