Leeds 1 Brentford 0

Liam Cooper’s goal saw Brentford fall defeat at Elland Road.

There was little between the sides throughout a niggly game, settled by the Leeds’ captain’s glancing header from a free-kick wide on the left after half an hour.

John Egan and Ollie Watkins had the Bees’ best chances, while Florian Jozefzoon put in some teasing crosses during the first half.

Dean Smith showed his attacking intent after the break, introducing Sergi Canos, Alan Judge and Emilio Marcondes, yet despite the energy all three brought to the side, they couldn’t find a way to get back on level terms.

Brentford (4-1-4-1): Bentley; Barbet, Bjelland, Egan, Dalsgaard; Woods; Sawyers (sub Judge 69), Jozefzoon, Mokotjo (sub Marcondes 69), Watkins (sub Canos 59); Maupay
Subs not used: Daniels, Mepham, Clarke, McEachran,
