Boss delighted after superb Bees win

Manager Mark Warburton was delighted with Brentford’s 3-1 win at Nottingham Forest, having been frustrated away from home a number of times this season.

The victory was the Bees’ first on the road in five games and lifted them above Forest into ninth spot in the Championship.

Warburton was especially pleased after leaving Bournemouth and Watford without anything earlier this term.

“It is important for players to get just rewards and come to a ground of this stature, a club of this stature, and get that type of performance and result, that was pleasing indeed,” said Warburton.

“We had some really good performances earlier in the season, we went to Watford and played well and it was the same at Bournemouth.”

Warburton said their tactics against an out-of-sorts Reds side, who have now gone 10 games without a win, were crucial as goals from Jon Toral and Andre Gray put the Bees in command at half-time.

Alex Pritchard added a third from the penalty spot early in the second half after Gray was chopped down in the box.

Warburton explained: “With Michael Mancienne in front of the [Forest] back four we felt that Jon Toral could exploit that space and thought that Andre Gray could work the channels with the centre-halves.

“That that was the gameplan with Alex Pritchard and Alan [Judge] around him.

“We were really pleased that it worked out well and I thought Andre Gray was absolutely outstanding.”
