Bees defending must improve – Smith

Brentford boss Dean Smith admitted his team’s defending has to improve after they lost 4-2 at Preston in the first of three away matches.

The Bees, who faded after taking the lead at Deepdale, travel to promotion chasers Reading and Sheffield Wednesday in their next two games.

“Now we’ve got Reading away and then Sheffield Wednesday the following Tuesday, so we’ll be on the road a bit,” said Smith.

“We have to make sure that we’re better defensively. I was disappointed with our defensive organisation after Preston’s third goal – that’s what’s disappointing and annoying.”

The result left Brentford 15th in the Championship table.
