Bees striker El Alagui admits frustration

Brentford striker Farid El Alagui admits he is frustrated by his lack of first-team action this season.

The 28-year-old has recovered from a long-term knee injury but is behind the likes of Clayton Donaldson and Marcello Trotta in the running for a starting spot.

However, El Alagui is determined to force his way into manager Uwe Rosler’s plans following a number of substitute appearances.

“When you’re not playing, it does get frustrating,” he said.

“As a player all you want to do is be out there. I don’t want to be on the bench, but I know it’s down to me to change that.

“I’m coming on and I’m trying to shine and be able to impress the manager to show him I can play and have an impact on games.

“It’s tough but you need to be ready for the gaffer. It’s a long season and I know I’ll get my chance and when I do I need to take it.”

The Moroccan featured in the Bees’ mauling of Staines Town in the FA Cup on Saturday.

And he believes fans can expect to see more of the attractive football that was on show against the Conference South side.

“We’ve been working hard in training over the last few weeks on our passing and movement,” El Alagui explained.

“The gaffer has been drilling into us about trying to keep the ball down and having more coordination in our play and some of our passing is beginning to be very, very good.”
