Bees settle for a point against Wigan

Brentford were unable to produce yet another blistering performance at Griffin Park, where this time they endured a frustrating afternoon.

Having beaten Preston 5-0 and Reading 4-1 in their previous two home games, the in-form Bees were strong favourites against a Wigan side that had not picked up a point away from home this season.

But the Latics defended resolutely in a game of few chances and Brentford had to settle for a draw.

There was also concern for Bees striker Lasse Vibe, who went off injured in the second half.

The closest the hosts came to a goal was when Shaun MacDonald cleared John Egan’s header off the line and up on to the bar.

Wigan might have snatched a victory had Dan Bentley not produced a late save to keep out Nick Powell’s free-kick.
