MK Dons 1 Brentford 4

Brentford romped to a fifth win in six games as they came from behind to confirm MK Dons’ relegation.

The Dons went ahead through Nicky Maynard’s early goal but a spectacular Sergi Canos strike soon levelled the score.

Lasse Vibe ran through to put the Bees in front within four minutes of the restart and late efforts from Ryan Woods and Jake Bidwell wrapped up the win.

The Dons, needing a win to keep alive their slim hopes of avoiding relegation on goal difference, took the lead inside six minutes when Maynard turned in Josh Murphy’s cross from close range.

But the Bees swiftly replied, Canos curling home a brilliant shot into the top corner from 25 yards.

Brentford, whose only dropped points in April came in the 1-1 home draw to Bristol City, had the better of things for the rest of the half.

But their second goal did not arrive until the 49th minute, Vibe finding the bottom corner with a one-on-one chance.

The visitors continued to dominate and finally made sure of victory as the final 10 minutes approached.

A delightful team move saw McCormack and Bidwell create a chance for Woods, who smashed the ball home from 25 yards.

And Bidwell added a fourth with a minute left when his free-kick eluded everyone and went in at the far post.
