Brentford have offered Josh Clarke a new contract but released goalkeeper Mark Smith.

Clarke, who can play at right-back or right-midfield, has played 12 Championship games this season for the Bees, as well as 10 in League Two during a loan spell at Barnet earlier in the campaign.

The 22-year-old has also had spells with Maidenhead, Braintree, Dagenham and Stevenage.

Smith, 20, joined Brentford from QPR two years ago and has been out on loan at Hitchin Town and Hampton & Richmond.

He helped the latter win promotion from the Ryman Premier Division this season and is now a free agent.

Clarke and Smith were the only two Bees players out of contract this summer.

Loanees Sergi Canos, Marco Djuricin and John Swift have returned to their parent clubs, while set-piece coach Gianni Vio and head of conditioning Matt Springham have left their roles.
