Higgins targeting a shot at English title

Alan Higgins is targeting a shot at the English title before the end of the year.

The Kilburn middleweight, 25, extended his unbeaten record to 7-0 with a comfortable points victory against Jason Ball at Bethnal Green’s York Hall at the weekend.

And he believes he is ready to step up to the next level following an impressive start to his professional career.

He said: “I want to fight for the English title. Jason Ball was ranked number 19 on Boxrec so hopefully I will be up there now.

“I’ve been sparring with James DeGale for two years now and was sparring with Darren Barker, so when I box at this level I feel like I’m a class above them.

“I’d like another fight in a couple of weeks. I want to keep busy and keep the record up.”
