Chelsea ‘way off the pace’ in race to buy power station site
Chelsea’s bid to purchase the site of Battersea Power Station is unlikely to succeed, according to a source close to the sale process.
A number of other parties are keen to acquire the land on the south bank of the River Thames, with Malaysian real estate company SP Setia and veteran British developer Godfrey Bradman said to be leading the chase.
The well-placed source has suggested that a final decision could come as early as next week and that Chelsea’s bid is “way off the pace”.
Chelsea announced earlier this month that the club had submitted a formal offer to Wandsworth Council to buy the site ahead of a possible move from Stamford Bridge.

It doesn’t really matter which property developer gets the land, Chelsea will arrange an attractive land plus cash deal for their Stamford Bridge site. The land values in Fulham are more that double that in Battersea, handy transport with Fulham Broadway next door and a greater opportunity of getting planning permission for high rise building that will maximise any profit. The chances of getting such planning permission near a monument on the banks of the Thames are slim. Don’t write the deal off yet.

YAWN…………..Yeah the other interested parties are so keen to buy the power station and adjoining land that after nealy thirty years they’ve just made their interest known. DMAF.
